A farewell to Dr. P.V. Alexander,

a man who accomplished the great mission

and vision that our Lord God gave him.

On June 22, 1934, Dr. P.V. Alexander was born as  the first son of seven children of KG Varghese and Saramma Varghese.

He accepted the Lord as his Savior and was baptized at the age of fourteen.

At the age of seventeen, he worked as an accountant for JB Advani in Bombay.  At the same time, he   was involved in evangelism and received Post Graduate Degree in Commerce (M.Com at the age of 24). 

He also completed a business administration course as well.

As the result of his evangelistic work, the Bombay Zion Malayalam Assembly was started at, Dr. P.V.Alexander's house.

In January 1963, he married Ammukutty (granddaughter of Vidvankuttiyachan, the pioneer of restoration movement in kerala), daughter of Joseph and Chinnamma.

He received his B.Th degree from Johnson's Bible College, TN,  on January 2, 1968, M. Div degree from Cincinnati Bible seminary, and his Doctorate in Theology from Kentucky Bible college.

While studying the Bible, he worked as an accountant at AB DICK in Cincinnati, OH.

 

I am not ashamed of the gospel:

Dr. P.V.  Alexander’s simple lifestyle, spiritual maturity, and prayer life were the hallmarks of his life. According to the divine vision, he resigned the job from USA in 1972 and returned to India for full-time evangelism. It was the Divine thrust and hunger of him to start the great movement of the Church of Christ based in Ayur in 1976 in Kollam district.

 

His activities are absolutely memorable and commendable.

The Kerala Christian Bible College, established in 1981 in Ayur, Kollam, Kerala. It was the culmination of a vision given to him by God. Diploma in Theology (Dip.Th), B.Th, M.Div & M.Th theology courses are offered in this seminary. now the Kerala Christian Bible College named as Kerla Christian Theological Seminary.  Dr. PV Alexander has played a pivotal role in equipping over 2000 of God's children for evangelism in across the countries. 

He was a symbol of humility and modesty. He was a great man who used his God-given talents in many fields such as a teacher, writer, evangelist, preacher and excellent organizer.

Also, Dr. P.V. Alexander was the president of the Sankarapuri family meeting for a long time. The Johnson Gospel Press was started in 1983 to expand the field of evangelism. In 1984, he published the Christian Voice. He also possessed a personality of doing charitable activities. In 1984, Christian Homes were started in Ayur, Nilambur and Parashala to educate poor children. Ebenezer English Medium School was started in 1990 to educate the illiterate in the society and to uplift the new generation. Mercy Hospital was established in 1995 at Kottarakkara, Valakam to sow the seeds of the gospel in the field of healthcare. 

In 1998 at the Mercy School of Nursing in Valakam, and later The College of Nursing was established in 2006. He received the Nehru Peace Award, dedicated the first prime minister of India, in 1997 for his services in the field of healthcare. 

In 2018, President K.R. Narayanan award, dedicated to the first president of India from the “untouchable class” also received for his work in the  Charitable and Healthcare field. Dr.P.V. Alexander, who shone for the Lord all his life without rest  will remain in the hearts and in the history of the People of God. There are more than 150 servants of the Lord and more than 125 churches in Kerala and Tamil Nadu working under this organization.

Dr. PV has completed the great commission which given by Lord Jesus Christ in 87 years of his life on the earth. He will always be a challenge and pleasure to the new generation in the ministry field. PV  Alexander is an inspiration to future generations. was a good role model in family life, ministry and in the community to the younger generation. 

He is survived by his wife, children and Grand Children
